We had to take a second look to believe it the TH Brown Trend Lounge has just been featured in Monocle’s Minute on Design, celebrated in their Archive section.
For our family business, this is more than a mention. It’s recognition of what we’ve always believed: that great Australian design deserves to endure.
From 1970s Icon to Today
The Trend Lounge was first designed in the 1970s by Peter Brown, part of a generation of Australian designers who weren’t just making furniture they were shaping a way of living.
With its effortless combination of sculptural form and ergonomic comfort, the Trend Lounge quickly became an “it” piece of its era. Homes across Australia were defined by its presence relaxed, stylish, and unmistakably modern.
When we relaunched TH Brown, the Trend Lounge was one of the pieces we knew had to return. It embodies everything our brand stands for: timeless design, made to last for generations.

Why Monocle Matters
For those who don’t know, Monocle is one of the world’s most respected voices in design, culture, and global affairs. Their Archive section is dedicated to pieces that remain culturally relevant and iconic objects, ideas, and designs that prove their worth not just in the moment, but across decades.
To see the Trend Lounge recognised here, alongside other design icons, is a huge honour. It’s confirmation that what began in Australia all those years ago resonates just as strongly on the world stage today.
A Proud Family Moment
As Refounder of TH Brown, I couldn’t be prouder:
“To see a piece designed by my father-in-law, Peter Brown, now recognised globally by Monocle, is deeply meaningful. For our family, this is more than a milestone it’s proof of what we’ve always believed: great design never ages.”
This recognition is not just for us, but for every craftsman who has built a TH Brown piece, for every designer who has placed one in a home or project, and for every customer who has chosen to make our designs part of their story.

Design That Endures
At TH Brown, we don’t chase trends. We bring back the pieces that stand the test of time furniture that becomes part of the fabric of your home, and part of your family’s memories.
The Monocle Archive feature is a reminder of why we do what we do. We’re honoured, proud, and more determined than ever to keep sharing Australia’s design legacy with the world.
